Vince Voelz lab is interested in using "statistical mechanical and molecular simulation approaches, in close collaboration with experimentalists, to study the structure and dynamics of proteins and peptidomimetics" ( http://www.voelzlab.org/ ). New Markov State Models approaches to folding, binding and design Markov State Models (MSMs) describe conformational dynamics as a kinetic network of transitions between coarse-grained metastable states. In this talk, Vince will discuss emerging methodologies and applications of these models to efficiently sample thermodynamics and kinetics of folding and binding, as well as the effects of perturbations due to mutations or other changes.
