A brief introduction to Wertheim's multi-density theory for associating fluids

A brief introduction to Wertheim's multi-density theory for associating fluids will be presented.  A simple argument demonstrating the advantage of the multi-density approach over traditional one-density approach will be given.  This will be followed by the presentation of the major steps needed to derive corresponding multi-density versions of the thermodynamic perturbation and integral equation theories for associating fluids. In an effort to keep the presentation simple most of the technical details will be ignored and only the general scheme of derivation will be discussed. For the conclusion a simple example of the TPT theory application to dimerizing hard-sphere fluid will be discussed.
